What is the Kalbarri Skywalk?
The Kalbarri Skywalk is one of the standout attractions within Kalbarri National Park. It consists of two incredible cantilevered platforms that extend right over the edge of the Murchison River Gorge. These platforms provide visitors with unparalleled views of the dramatic landscape.
Perched 100 metres above the river, the Skywalk gives you the sensation of floating above the ancient red cliffs and winding river below. It’s not just the views that are breathtaking — the Skywalk itself is a marvel of engineering, designed to blend into the natural surroundings while providing a secure, accessible way for all visitors to appreciate the scenery.
You don’t need to be an experienced hiker to enjoy the Skywalk. Unlike some other lookouts in the park, it’s easy to reach and caters to people of all ages and abilities. Read our Kalbarri Skywalk Guide to discover more!

Where is the Kalbarri Skywalk?
Kalbarri Skywalk is located within the stunning Kalbarri National Park, about a 6.5-hour drive north of Perth, Western Australia. It’s a little over 10 minutes from the heart of Kalbarri to the park’s entrance though! Once you enter the national park, you’ll find the Skywalk within its northern section, which covers part of the Murchison River Gorge, near The Loop and Nature’s Window.
To get there from the town centre, head northeast on Grey Street and turn right onto Clotworthy Street. Continue on this road toward Ajana-Kalbarri Road. After about 10 km, turn left and pass through the entrance of Kalbarri National Park. Follow the road inside the park for approximately 25 km to reach the Kalbarri Skywalk. There are signs along the way to guide you to the viewing platforms.
And of course, if you’re visiting Kalbarri and don’t want to worry about driving yourself, D’Guy Journeys is always ready to provide an unforgettable guided experience through Kalbarri’s most iconic spots, including the Skywalk! For example, our Kalbarri Skywalk Sundowner and Stargazing Tour is an incredible way to visit the Skywalk, soak up a stunning Kalbarri sunset, marvel at our dazzling night sky, and more.

Do You Have to Pay to Enter Kalbarri National Park?
Yes, you do. Before you explore Kalbarri Skywalk, you’ll need to pay the park’s entry fee. Like many of Australia’s national parks, there’s a small charge to help maintain the pristine environment and facilities. For the ultimate convenience, if you join one of our excursions featuring this iconic attraction, like the Kalbarri Skywalk Tour, your national park pass is included in the price you pay.
At the time of writing, the fee is $17 per standard vehicle ($10 for concessions). If you’re travelling by motorbike, it’s $10 per person. For larger vehicles with 12 or more occupants, it’s $10 per person ($3.50 per person for concessions).
Looking to spend more time exploring Western Australia’s stunning parks and reserves? You can also purchase a Park Pass Ticket, which offers fantastic value for money and convenience.

Accessibility at the Kalbarri Skywalk
One of the things we love most about the Kalbarri Skywalk is how accessible it is to everyone. The Skywalk is wheelchair accessible, with well-maintained, flat paths leading from the car park to both viewing platforms. This means that everyone, regardless of mobility, can enjoy the jaw-dropping views.
There are designated parking spaces close to the Skywalk for visitors with mobility needs, and there are ramps that make it easy to move around the site. Additionally, the railings around the platforms are designed to provide a safe, enjoyable experience for all visitors, including families with young children.
As such an accessible attraction, it’s no surprise that we included the Skywalk in our picks for the top 5 things to do in Kalbarri!

What Amenities are at the Kalbarri Skywalk?
Visiting a remote location like Kalbarri National Park doesn’t mean you have to forgo comfort! The Kalbarri Skywalk has a range of amenities to ensure your visit is a pleasant one.
There are clean restrooms on-site, including accessible toilets. You’ll also find The Skywalk Cafe where you can grab refreshments, including breakfast and lunch options, coffee, cold drinks, freshly made sandwiches, and homemade treats.
If you’re planning to spend the day in the national park, you’ll be pleased to know that there are picnic areas where you can relax, refuel, and soak in the stunning scenery. However, it’s important to note that there are no rubbish bins in the National Park. Please take your rubbish home and only leave your footprint.

When is the Best Time to Visit Kalbarri Skywalk?
As locals, we recommend visiting in the cooler months, from April to October, when the weather is more pleasant for outdoor activities. Kalbarri can get quite hot during the summer months, with temperatures climbing above 40°C. So, if you’re visiting during the warmer period (November to March), plan to arrive early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat.
The early morning and late afternoon are also the best times for photography, as the light is softer, casting beautiful shadows across the gorge. Plus, there’s always a chance to see native wildlife like kangaroos or emus during these times of day.
